
In operation since 2013, Lafayette Cellos is dedicated to providing private and group cello lessons for students of any age or background. Whether you are looking for an activity for your child or yourself, Lafayette Cellos will be able to help you along your musical journey.

Student Opportunities:
In addition to regular weekly lessons, students regularly participate in the Acadiana Symphony Youth Orchestra, the UL Symphony Orchestra, area-wide assessments, and are selected for Honor Orchestra & All-State Orchestra. Students also have the option to participate in monthly performance classes, periodic recitals, competitions, and assessments. About the Instructor:
Molly Goforth is an active performer and teacher based in Lafayette, Louisiana. She is the principal cellist of the Baton Rouge Symphony and the cello instructor at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. As an educator Ms. Goforth has a diverse background that includes time spent working in the public school system as a high school orchestra teacher, in the Scrollworks El Sistema program as a private teacher, as a studio teacher in college and as a private lesson instructor.

As a performer Ms. Goforth presents regular solo recitals and chamber music recitals at UL Lafayette and around the state of Louisiana. Recent events include performances of the Brahms Double Concerto for Violin & Cello at UL Lafayette as well as a chamber music recital with Yvgeny Kutik in Baton Rouge. During the Covid-19 Pandemic, Ms. Goforth has regularly appeared as a soloist and chamber musician for the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra’s and Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra’s online performance series.

Ms. Goforth has a Master's degree in cello performance from DePaul University in Chicago, a BM from the University of Louisville and has registered Suzuki Teacher Training through Cello Book 10. Ms. Goforth has studied privately with Stephen Balderston, Alan Harris, Darrett Adkins, Craig Hultgren, Alice Ann O’Neill and Paul York.
